My wife and I have had a special cookbook on our shelf for many years. We don't use it as much as we used to, but in its time it taught us a lot. The title is "The More with Less Cookbook." It helped me to learn some of the basics about nutritious "earth-friendly" cooking. On a planet of increasing scarcity of resources, we do well to find ways to use those resources in a responsible fashion. With care and forethought, we can indeed do "More with Less."

We have just completed a series of home meetings of parishioners. About one-quarter of our members met over six weeks to discuss the issues facing this congregation. The Stewardship & Visioning Committee will meet tomorrow to prepare a summary for presentation to the parish. Whatever they decide, this much seems clear to me:

The demand for ministry is increasing.
The resources for ministry are diminishing.

My question, then:
Where is the "More with Less Cookbook" for church life?
