A wedding in the rain
Last June 30, I officiated at a wedding in a park in Brandon, the first such event I had done since our canons were changed in 2004. We had a rain-out plan, but the rain came up very quickly. This shot was taken just after a clap of thunder sounded, and the first big drops had hit my service book. We ran for cover, cramming everyone into a gazebo, where we did the nuptials, and were then trapped by wind and rain for 45 minutes. It was a wedding to remember!

I am the Dean of the Diocese of Brandon & Rector of St. Matthew's Anglican Cathedral, in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. I have been in this ministry since January of 2003.
My big interest is "preaching among exiles," to borrow a term from Walter Brueggemann.
This blog is mainly devoted to my sermons, and the sometimes circuitous process by which I get to them, as well as current issues in church life as I experience them. I welcome constructive comment on the content of my personal posts. Comments on linked articles should be directed to the appropriate authors. Note that this is a moderated blog.
