The storm continues to gather, and now the hour has come for Jesus to be glorified. Jesus' public outcry in John 12:20-36 takes the place of the Gethsemane scene in the other Gospels, as he says:
‘...it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.’
In reply, God speaks, in a voice like thunder, telling us that he has glorified his name, and will glorify it.
The die is cast, the storm is advancing, but the darkness has not yet fallen. There is still light to see by, and time to do what must be done to ride out what is coming. When a prairie thunderstorm comes, we close the windows, stow loose things away, and await the first gust of wind and patter of rain. Some will unplug everything electrical—even their phones.
It doesn't do any good to wait for the storm to hit to start preparing—by then it's too late.
Jesus knew that his hour had come—and he was ready.
May we be ready when our hour comes.
